Ferran Torres was one of the unsung heroes for Barcelona last season, as the club secured the domestic treble.

Once considered a liability in the final third, Torres stepped up his game in crucial moments last season, eventually ending the campaign as the club’s third-highest goalscorer.

Ferran netted as many as 19 goals in all competitions, many of which came from the bench.

But as Barça prepare for the new season, Ferran faces a rather awkward situation. His status as a bench player is unlikely to improve despite a 19-goal campaign, which has led to many being unsure as to what may transpire in the summer.

Barcelona will only consider sale if Ferran wants it

As uncertainty over Ferran’s role in the team continues, a recent report from Diario SPORT has offered some perspective.

As per the report, Barcelona will not listen to any offers for Ferran Torres this summer, despite earlier reports linking him with a move to Aston Villa.

The only way Barcelona will consider Torres’ sale is if the player himself demands a move elsewhere.

But that is unlikely considering the fact that Torres has always been keen on playing for Barça and fighting for his place in the team.

The Catalans, meanwhile, are expected to follow a similar strategy for Gerard Martin, who has had an unfortunate start to the summer.

Martin has been linked with a move away from Catalonia lately. But Barcelona won’t consider any offers until the player demands an exit.

So for now, Martin will continue to remain the primary alternative for Alejandro Balde at left-back, unless Barça are able to find a new face in the market.
