FC Barcelona have clearly defined their two main transfer priorities for the upcoming season – a new goalkeeper and a left-winger.
The sporting management, led by director Deco, has also identified the main targets for the two positions – Joan Garcia of RCD Espanyol and Liverpool ace Luis Diaz, respectively.
There have been murmurs of continued interest in Athletic Club winger Nico Williams, who had been a top target for Barcelona last summer.
But according to Mundo Deportivo, Barcelona will not be making any moves for Williams in the upcoming transfer window.
The 22-year-old Spanish international was indeed a serious target for the Catalans in 2024, but ultimately decided against the transfer due to the risk of not being registered in time.
He chose to stay in Bilbao, partly motivated by the opportunity to compete in the Europa League final, which was set to be played at San Mames.

Williams’ decision not to take the risk – unlike Dani Olmo, who did – cooled Barcelona president Joan Laporta and director Deco’s interest ahead of this summer.
Additionally, the report stresses that Deco has always preferred Luis Diaz over Nico Williams and that stance remains unchanged.
As such, the roadmap is clear: Barcelona intend to pursue the Colombian international and are prepared to go all out for his signing, especially with Liverpool now spending big on bringing in Florian Wirtz.
No formal approach has yet been made for Diaz, but Deco and Barcelona see him as the absolute priority when it comes to the attacking department, although competition from Al-Nassr could complicate matters.
