Former Barcelona youngster Dani Rodriguez has officially closed an important chapter of his career after completing his permanent transfer to Dinamo Zagreb, and the winger has now shared an emotional farewell message dedicated to the club that shaped his development.

Barcelona confirmed this week that an agreement had been reached with Dinamo Zagreb for the transfer of the 19-year-old, who has signed a four-year contract with the Croatian side.

Despite allowing the player to leave, Barcelona have protected their interests by retaining a buy-back clause as well as a percentage of any future sale.

Dani Rodriguez’s Barcelona exit had been expected for some time, with the player prioritising sporting opportunities and regular minutes over financial considerations.

An expected exit

The decision to leave Barcelona was not an easy one for Dani Rodriguez, but the winger understood that his pathway into the first team had become increasingly complicated.

With Lamine Yamal established as Barcelona’s first-choice option on the right flank, the 20-year-old recognised that opportunities would be difficult to come by in the short term.

Although he still had a year remaining on his contract, the player opted to take a different route in order to continue his progression.

Having spent six years at the club, Rodriguez departs after achieving one of his biggest ambitions by making his debut for the Barcelona first team.

Posting an emotional tribute on Instagram, the former Barcelona youth team player wrote: “Today marks the end of a very important chapter in my life.

“I’d like to thank all my team-mates, coaches, club staff and the fans for being part of this chapter.
