Barca are missing star man for crucial title clash

Barcelona will be without star forward Lamine Yamal for this weekend’s ‘Clasico’ clash against Real Madrid.

The young winger was ruled out for the rest of the season last month with a hamstring injury, but it is believed he will be fit enough to play for Spain at this summer’s World Cup.

It came as a big blow for Hansi Flick, who is looking to become the fourth Barca coach this century to win back-to-back league titles in his first two seasons in the hotseat.

A simple draw at the Nou Camp against their arch-rivals would be enough to seal the deal on Sunday.

Other than Yamal, Flick has a full complement to pick from - aside from former Chelsea defender Andreas Christensen, who is out for the remainder of the campaign with an ACL tear.

As such, he can go as strong as he likes against a Madrid side that has been ravaged by controversy and injury in recent weeks, and the German will be hoping to make the most of his opponents’ struggles of late.

In goal, Joan Garcia has established himself as the regular No1.

Joao Cancelo will be at left-back, while Eric Garcia filled in at right-back last time out against Osasuna.

In the middle, Pau Curbasi was partnered by Gerard Martin, as has often been the case this term.

In the engine room, Gavi and Pedri are likely to partner each other, with Fermin Lopez the go-to option off the left in recent games.

Marcus Rashford will have something to say about that as he looks to play his way into the club’s plans for next season, with his loan deal from Manchester United set to expire come the end of the current campaign.

Dani Olmo is the starting No10, and Roony Bardghji has staked his claim to the right-wing berth in Yamal’s absence.

Robert Lewandowski seems unmoved as the centre-forward.
