Earlier today, FC Barcelona announced that teenage La Masia prospect Jofre Torrents had signed a contract renewal until 2028.
The 18-year-old left-back, part of the Juvenil A setup, had a contract that stood to expire next year and the club acted quickly to secure his future until 2028.
Following his renewal earlier today, Torrents shared his thoughts with the club’s official media.
Despite still having one year of youth football eligibility, he will be part of Barça Atletic next season, having already made his debut for the reserve team this campaign. And the youngster has already set his sights on a first-team promotion.
“I am very happy to have renewed with the club of my life and now I will try to keep working to get as high as possible and give the best performance. I will try to make my debut in the first team, which is my dream,” said Torrents.
The teenage left-back also reflected on his recovery from a serious injury that sidelined him for almost the entire 2023/24 season, saying:
“Last year I had a pretty serious injury and I was a little hesitant to see the level with which I returned, but since I returned I felt very confident. The coach, Juliano Belletti, gave me confidence.
“Then I had a small injury, but I’ve tried to make the most of my opportunities at Barça Atletic.”
Torrents also spoke about his personal growth since arriving at the club, stating: “I’ve worked hard since I was a child, when I arrived I was very excited to play for the team I always supported.
“I was very shy and I’ve been improving in everything with the idea of giving my best version until today.”
Torrents has trained on multiple occasions with the Barcelona first team under Hansi Flick and there is a chance that the 18-year-old could on the pre-season tour with the senior setup come summer.
