Pablo Torre’s situation at Barcelona has raised a few eyebrows, particularly given his limited playing time this season, despite the faith shown in him by manager Hansi Flick.

However, according to a report from German Bona in SPORT, Torre remains a trusted figure for Flick, even though he has not featured prominently on the pitch.

On paper, there is no clear reason for Torre’s lack of minutes. After all, he scored twice against Sevilla, a performance that seemed to justify his inclusion in the squad.

However, despite this impressive display, the 21-year-old has found himself on the sidelines for the subsequent four games. This drop in playing time has nothing to do with his form or ability, suggesting that there may be other factors at play.

No spot due to competition

One of the challenges Torre faces is the competition in the midfield. The partnership of Marc Casado and Pedri in central positions has been very effective, leaving limited space for another player to break into the starting lineup.

Additionally, Torre has to compete with established names like Dani Olmo and Fermin Lopez, who made a big impact during Spain’s gold medal win at the Olympics. Given the high calibre of players ahead of him, Torre’s path to regular minutes is a difficult one.

Despite the challenges, he has not given up. He remains focused on his goal of impressing when given the chance. Even though it is been four matches since his last appearance, he recognizes that Flick continues to believe in his abilities.

The manager even handed Torre three consecutive starts, a feat that never happened under former coaches Xavi or Michel during his loan at Girona.

For the midfielder, the task now is to make the most of his next opportunity. He knows it will come, and when it does, he aims to leave a lasting impression, proving that he is ready to contribute when Barcelona needs him.

With Flick’s confidence in him, Torre’s time to shine may not be far away.
