Barcelona’s fans are not happy with the World Cup Team of the Tournament | OneFootball

Supporters of La Liga giants Barcelona the world over have been left bemused by the announcement of the official 2026 World Cup Team of the Tournament.

This comes owing to the absence of a leading Blaugrana star, namely Pau Cubarsí.

Stopper Cubarsí is for his part of course fresh off nothing short of a spectacular individual campaign at the World Cup. From his berth at the heart of Spain’s backline, the 19-year-old barely put a foot wrong throughout the entire tournament.

En route to La Roja being crowned world champions, Cubarsí started in all eight of their fixtures. Alongside Athletic Club’s Aymeric Laporte, the youngster formed a remarkable partnership, which allowed just a solitary goal all summer.

Such exploits culminated in the defender being named Young Player of the Tournament following last Sunday’s finale.

This, however, has since not proven enough for Cubarsí to be included in FIFA’s Team of the Tournament. The two centre-back spots instead went the way of Lisandro Martínez, and Dayot Upamecano.

And safe to say, news of as much has not gone down at all well amongst those of a Barcelona persuasion…
