The uncertainty over where Barcelona will play their first La Liga home match of the 2025/26 season is finally about to end.

According to a report from SPORT, the club will make an official announcement on Monday, which is today or Tuesday, September 9.

The fixture in question is the highly anticipated clash against Valencia, scheduled for Sunday, September 14.

The situation remains complicated because the Spotify Camp Nou still does not have the Final Construction Certificate needed for the First Occupancy Licence from Barcelona City Council.

Everything points to Estadi Johan Cruyff

Without this approval, it would be nearly impossible to host the game at the stadium, meaning the Estadi Johan Cruyff is now the most likely venue.

La Liga has already given the green light for the Johan Cruyff Stadium to be used, but under certain conditions.

The adjustments required are not overly complex – installation of the proper VAR cameras, a fibre optic connection to avoid technical failures and confirmation of the irrigation system.

League officials will return this week to finalise inspections, though the progress so far has been considered “positive.”

Camp Nou return still uncertain

Right now, the chances of playing against Valencia at the Spotify Camp Nou, even with just 27,000 seats available, are described as little more than a miracle.

The club is already preparing different logistical plans depending on which stadium is used, with major differences in security, VIP areas, press facilities, and member access.

One of the most pressing issues is ticket distribution. If the game is played at the Johan Cruyff Stadium, only 6,000 seats will be available, and members are anxiously waiting for news on how these will be allocated.

What remains unclear is when Camp Nou will be fully ready for use again, and under what capacity.

If the delays continue, Barcelona may be forced to return to the Estadi Olimpic Lluis Companys for a third consecutive season.
