Adam Bareiro has addressed Boca supporters after undergoing back surgery, outlining the ordeal that has kept him out and the path he hopes to follow back.

The player said in a post that he had been battling unfamiliar problems for more than three months and is now off the pitch when he most wants to play.

He explained that a near-total adductor tendon tear came first, then, days before returning, a herniated disc appeared. He trained through significant discomfort for over a month to be with his team-mates, but ultimately chose surgery as the final option.

This period has been punishing for Boca on the injury front, particularly in attack. Bareiro had become important for Claudio Úbeda and Rodolfo Arruabarrena hoped to include him, but his body prevented it. He has not played since nine May.

Setting out his mindset, he spoke of a careful recovery with support from family and fans, and faith in the medical staff. He said his biggest hope is to celebrate goals again and keep competing for titles, describing himself as resilient.

Indicative timelines suggest the centre-forward could return before the end of the year and aim to be ready for the summer pre-season with his team-mates. Arruabarrena’s staff do not have him in their plans for this season. He has been discharged and will rest before resuming physical work.
