Denzel Dumfries is reportedly set to have a €25m release clause in his Inter Milan contract for the entire month of July, which will surely spark interest from clubs around Europe.

Somewhat surprisingly, it seems Barcelona were the main team interested when he was also available on the cheap last summer, though no club actually came in with an approach, according to Gazzetta dello Sport.

Dumfries is a top player who’s performed at a high level for Inter, winning two Serie A titles and other major honours, as well as helping them reach two Champions League finals.

Liverpool have been linked with Dumfries by the Times and could do well to look again at this opportunity after a poor first season at Anfield for fellow Dutch right-back Jeremie Frimpong.

Liverpool need a new right-back and generally look like needing changes all over the pitch after a hugely disappointing season, so if they can get someone like Dumfries in on the cheap that would be smart business which also allows them a decent amount of budget left to spend on strengthening other positions.

Arsenal, meanwhile, should also be all over this transfer opportunity, with the injured Ben White likely to need replacing soon.

As good as the 28-year-old has been for the Gunners this season, he’s proven rather injury prone in the last couple of years and that leaves Mikel Arteta without any real substitute to Jurrien Timber.

Timber himself is also injured at the moment after playing a lot of football, so someone like Dumfries coming in as a rotation option seems like a must for Arsenal, and not one that would cost them a fortune.

Dumfries really ticks a lot of boxes for his form, overall experience, price, and squad need for Arsenal, even if he loses points for being a bit on the old side, having recently turned 30.

He’d likely get the same score for Liverpool given their issues at right-back, so this is surely one of the best bargains on the market this summer.
