Santos could be without midfielder Barreal for longer than the automatic ban following his red card against Coritiba. According to Globo.com, the Argentine was charged by the STJD (Superior Tribunal de Justiça Desportiva) on Wednesday and could be suspended for up to 12 matches.
Santos' number 22 was dismissed 27 minutes into the second half for a sliding tackle on Breno Lopes, the referee showing a straight red.
He was cited under article 254 for physical aggression during a match, covering kicks made outside a challenge, forcefully or with the risk of causing injury. The Código Brasileiro de Justiça Desportiva (CBJD) sets a range of four to 12 matches for that offence.
Santos lost 3-0 at Neo Química Arena and remain close to the Brasileirão relegation zone.
Through automatic suspension, Barreal will already sit out the meeting with Grêmio in Porto Alegre on Saturday at 19:00, Brasília time. The hearing is scheduled for Thursday from 11:00, Brasília time.
