Barreal hailed Santos’ progress to the Copa do Brasil last 16 and said back-to-back wins have lifted belief. The Argentine, the No 22, started both the cup tie with Coritiba and the league game against Red Bull Bragantino last weekend.
"We knew it would be a difficult game at their place. We worked well in the last match against Bragantino, we played well and then played well again, managing to go through. These two wins in a row mean a lot, we have been working, we were looking for a win, we had many draws, now it is good to pick up confidence and carry on," he said, speaking to De Olho no Peixe.
Santos face Coritiba again in the Brasileirão on Sunday 17 at 11:00 at Neo Química Arena, in round 16.
It is a chance for the Alvinegro to improve their position and move further from the bottom of the table.
In Série A, Santos have 18 points from four wins, six draws and five defeats, with 21 scored and 22 conceded.
Corinthians, Internacional, Atlético-MG and Botafogo are on the same total. Cuca’s side remain in the league and are nearing the end of the Sudamericana group stage, and now await the Copa do Brasil last 16 draw.
