The Austrian international is still under contract with the record champions until 30 June 2026. In principle, both sides can imagine continuing to work together beyond this date. Nevertheless, an agreement is currently not in sight

Salary issue causes standstill

According to consistent media reports, Laimer is demanding a significant salary increase for a contract extension. The 28-year-old is said to want to earn up to €15 million per year in future

The difference between the player’s expectations and FC Bayern’s financial possibilities is currently causing talks to come to a standstill

Sporting director Christoph Freund has now commented on the current situation and indirectly confirmed that talks are currently on hold. „We can very well imagine Konny staying with us for a very long time,“ Freund explained in an interview with Sky

At the same time, the Austrian made it clear that contract negotiations do not always lead to an immediate result. „It’s always the case that an agreement is reached straight away in the first or second meeting. Things are a little quieter at the moment,“ said Freund

The 43-year-old thus confirmed that the two are not currently at the negotiating table

Despite the current break, those responsible at FC Bayern are relatively relaxed about the situation. According to Sky, there is no unrest at Säbener Straße surrounding the Laimer personnel issue

Both the club and the player are said to still be interested in an extension, with talks set to resume in the coming months

The current contract term is also a decisive factor in this regard, as Laimer is still tied up until 2026, meaning there is no acute time pressure on either side

This means that the contract poker remains complicated, but by no means hopeless. FC Bayern are still hoping that an agreement can be reached with the versatile defensive player in the long term.
