FC Bayern beat VfB Stuttgart 4-1 on the 30th Bundesliga matchday to become German champions for the 35th time

The first twenty minutes were almost devoid of scoring chances. It was clear that the Bayern team had been reshuffled in eight positions. After an uneventful opening phase, the first goal was scored with the first chance. Chris Führich made it 1-0 for VfB in the 21st minute. Bilal El Khannouss set him up in the left half-space a few metres from goal and Führich slotted into the far corner with his right foot

The home side then pressed for an equalizer, which was finally brought about by a remarkable individual move from Jamal Musiala: in the 31st minute, he powered his way through two men on the left wing, dribbled into the penalty area and found Raphael Guerreiro at the far post, who pushed the ball over the line to equalize

Just a minute and a half later, Munich turned the game around completely. A misplaced pass from Finn Jeltsch in the 33rd minute allowed Luis Díaz to storm free towards Alexander Nübel’s goal. Instead of going for the finish himself, he laid it off to Nicolas Jackson, who was in a better position and finished the pass to give FCB a 2:1 lead

But that was not all: in the 37th minute, Díaz crossed into the center of the penalty area to Alphonso Davies, whose deflected shot was deflected into the goal by Atakan Karazor with his far post. The German championship was as good as secured at the break

Kane scores the final goal

Harry Kane and Michael Olise came on for Musiala and Díaz in the second half. Bayern kept their foot on the gas pedal – and were immediately rewarded. In the 52nd minute, former Stuttgart player Hiroki Ito played a cross into the box to Goretzka, whose shot was deflected by Nübel, but the rebound landed right at the feet of Kane, who was not to be denied his 32nd goal of the season

But it wasn’t just Munich’s offense that excelled against VfB. When El Khannouss got free in the 70th minute and marched towards Urbig, the latter spread himself wide and prevented the 2:4 by saving the shot with a strong foot save. A great save by the 22-year-old!

Olise almost scored another dream goal, but Maxi Mittelstädt’s perfect shot to the left corner in the 73rd minute rose high in time to prevent the goal, otherwise the ball would have hit the top left corner

Ten minutes before the final whistle, some of the club’s supporters could be seen on TV carrying bags of white champions‘ shirts to the bench while the team let the game wind down on the pitch. The fans in the Südkurve were also ready to celebrate and sang the Bayern Waltz. But Stuttgart were also allowed to celebrate once more: Chema Andrés took a ricochet from the penalty area directly on the volley and hammered it under the crossbar for Urbig to keep out

A short time later, the final whistle followed and the certainty: FC Bayern are the 2025/26 German champions!
