The announcement that Jérôme Boateng would be granted an internship at Bayern Munich as part of his coaching training caused quite a stir.

While the Munich club's management emphasized that this was not a permanent position, the fan base was left disgruntled.

During Saturday evening's match against Borussia Dortmund, parts of the south stand displayed banners with messages such as:

“Whoever gives the perpetrator space shares his guilt – Boateng, piss off!” and “No room for scoundrels in our club – no more room for Boateng!”

In the midst of the heated debate, Bayern CEO Jan-Christian Dreesen spoke out and called for a differentiated view of the case.

"Vincent and Jérôme know each other from old times. We simply agreed that Jérôme would observe and watch some training sessions. And that's it.

“It's a complicated case. I think every person deserves rehabilitation. Furthermore, one should take a look at the verdict in its entirety,” said Dreesen.

Dreesen was alluding to Boateng's legal case but proceedings against the former central defender were discontinued by the Munich in March 2025.

Boateng therefore has no criminal record, but remains controversial due to the previous allegations.
