FC Bayern dominates the Bundesliga on Instagram as well. Among the players, Harry Kane tops the FCB rankings—but he falls short when compared to the rest of the league.
FC Bayern doesn’t just have enormous appeal on the field. On social media, too, the Munich club is far ahead of its Bundesliga competition. This is shown by a recent study by the influencer agency Netzschreier, which analyzed the Instagram profiles of the professional players from all 18 Bundesliga clubs.
According to the study, the 23 Bayern players with their own Instagram accounts have a combined total of 91,026,261 followers. No other club comes even close. Bayer Leverkusen follows in second place with 31,971,674 followers. Borussia Dortmund has 17,989,345, and Eintracht Frankfurt has 11,022,811.
The Munich players’ presence in the individual rankings is also noteworthy. No fewer than nine Bayern pros are among the 20 Bundesliga players with the most Instagram followers.
As expected, Harry Kane tops the internal FCB ranking. The English striker is followed by 20,185,977 accounts. This means Kane alone accounts for more than 22 percent of the Bayern squad’s total Instagram reach.
However, Kane’s massive reach isn’t enough for first place in the Bundesliga. That spot belongs to Lucas Vázquez of Bayer Leverkusen. According to the analysis, the longtime Real Madrid pro has 21,404,425 followers, putting him a solid 1.2 million ahead of the Bayern striker.
The gap could narrow over the course of the season, though. While Vázquez has lost about 1.2 million followers since his move from Real Madrid to Leverkusen in August 2025, Kane has gained roughly 2.5 million new followers during the same period.
Behind Kane, several other Bayern stars are also well ahead. Manuel Neuer ranks third in the Bundesliga with 15,021,243 followers, while Michael Olise is in fourth place with 11,212,532. Joshua Kimmich follows in fifth place with 8,748,999, Luis Diaz in sixth with 8,598,122, and Jamal Musiala in seventh with 7,695,322.

Alphonso Davies (5,531,936), Serge Gnabry (2,935,301), and Ismael Saibari (2,562,349) make it into the top 20. This means that FC Bayern accounts for nearly half of the 20 Bundesliga players with the widest reach.
Among the new signings, Saibari also brings a sizeable following to Munich. With more than 2.5 million followers, he is the third-most-followed new signing in the entire Bundesliga. Nathaniel Brown currently has 387,137 followers.
Marlon Giglinger, CEO of Netzschreier, explained the significance these numbers now hold for clubs: “Of course, no player is signed just because he has a lot of Instagram followers. The decisive factors are, first and foremost, athletic ability, potential for development, and whether he’s a good fit for the team. Nevertheless, a soccer player’s digital reach has long been more than just a nice bonus. International stars and rising talents bring their own communities with them. This generates additional attention for clubs, makes them more attractive to sponsors, and can help them tap into new target audiences and markets.”
For the study, the Instagram profiles of a total of 511 Bundesliga players were analyzed. The survey’s cutoff date was September 7, 2026. Despite Bayern’s dominance, however, the numbers are modest by international standards: Cristiano Ronaldo alone has around 679 million Instagram followers, while Lionel Messi has about 516 million.
