Fan groups from several German clubs, including Bayern Munich’s Südkurve, have launched a drive to abolish VAR in the Bundesliga and DFB Pokal. Abendzeitung reports that coordinated supporter statements call for its removal.

Their message argues the Pokal’s opening round shows football as it should be, without video review, immediate and emotional.

Südkurve circulated the statement by email, adding that rumours point to growing unease among some club executives. Those officials could be ready to submit a motion to the DFB to scrap video review altogether, or to restrict it significantly.

The groups intend to give such officials backing. Recipients were invited to register support by adding their signatures to the statement.

FC Augsburg have recently opposed VAR, with managing director Michael Ströll speaking publicly on the issue.
