There is an understanding within FC Barcelona that no single player is going to be bigger than the club. While the Catalan giants will try to pursue their desired targets, they will only do so in a realistic fashion. If certain targets demand more than Barcelona is able to give, alternatives can be looked at easily.
For now, the primary objective for La Blaugrana is to address the potential signing of a new left-winger. Over the course of this summer so far, Barça have been linked to several players, even though the most prominent target has undeniably been Nico Williams.
In fact, recent reports are now suggesting that great progress has been made on that end. Moreover, beyond just the club’s own progress in that operation, players such as Ferran Torres have voiced their opinion about this potential transfer as well.
However, as Mundo Deportivo has highlighted, Barcelona are not going to find it easy to pursue any of their winger targets this summer. While the Nico Williams operation does seem to be in a good place for La Blaugrana right now, they face stiff competition from German giants Bayern Munich.

That is because, so far this summer, the Bavarian club has been linked to all three of Barça’s major targets to be their new left-winger next season. This includes Athletic Club star Nico Williams, Liverpool forward Luis Diaz, and Manchester United attacker Marcus Rashford.
Coincidentally, Bayern Munich have shortlisted all three of these players as summer transfer targets. With Leroy Sane having left the club and Serge Gnabry not having long left on his contract, the Bundesliga side wants a new left-winger. However, they look set to lock horns with Barcelona for every single target that they have highlighted this summer.
As for the Catalan giants, their primary target for now remains Nico Williams. The club is reportedly already working on paying his release clause, and Bayern Munich seems to have understood that the player’s intention is to give priority to Barcelona as well.
