Kerry Hau reports that Spanish international Bryan Zaragoza is set to depart Bayern Munich. The defending Bundesliga champions have been openly shopping the 23-year-old winger for quite some time. It now appears as if Zaragoza will be heading to Celta Vigo.
Zaragoza constitutes a very expensive misfire for the German giants. Initially purchased from FC Granada for the 2024/25 season transfer window for €13m, Bayern shelled out an additional €4m to acquire him on loan early during the January 2024 transfer window.
Bayern considered it necessary to bring Zaragoza in early due to an injury to Kingsley Coman. Unfortunately, the Spaniard never managed to impress then FCB head coach Thomas Tuchel.
Tuchel revealed that Zaragoza’s lack of German and English language skills rendered him difficult to instruct. As a result, Zaragoza made only six relief appearances and one start during the latter half of the 2023/24 campaign.
Bayern loaned the now thrice capped international out to CA Osasuna this past season. Back in his some country, the Malaga-native scored one goal and contributed six assists in 28 competitive appearances for the La Liga outfit.
Hau offers up no information as to how much of the cumulative €17m Bayern invested in Zaragoza can be recouped. The player currently maintains an estimated €12m estimated market value.
The Sky Germany journalist does note that negotiations for Zaragoza’s move to Celta Vigo are at an “advanced stage”. All parties involved surely wish to end this misunderstanding and complete a deal quickly.
