Bayern Munich have no plans to sign Barcelona forward in January

Bayern Munich want to strengthen the attack as they have made Florian Wirtz their top transfer target for 2025. However, Die Roten have no plans to invest in the squad during the winter transfer window. Bayern are focusing on extending the contracts of key players.

Despite Bayern’s persistent comments on not signing players in January, they will be linked with players, or a brilliant market opportunity may change their mind. One such market opportunity this winter is the potential departure of Dani Olmo from FC Barcelona.

The Spanish player currently finds himself in limbo since Barcelona had to deregister him. Barcelona have failed with their appeal to register him earlier this month. Olmo can reportedly leave the Catalan club on a free transfer, which has potentially alerted several top clubs across Europe.

Bayern are not going to be one of the options for Olmo if he leaves Barcelona. According to SportBild (via iMiaSanMia), Bayern have no intention of pursuing a deal for the Spanish playmaker. The Bavarian club believes that Barcelona will eventually find a way to register the former RB Leipzig playmaker.

Bayern have other targets for attacking midfield positions

The record champions are expected to sign an attacking midfielder in the summer. They had Olmo on their list of targets in the past, but the current priority remains Florian Wirtz. The German international is prime transfer target for Die Roten at the end of the season. Even if Wirtz ends up signing a new deal at Leverkusen, Bayern have no plans to give up on their pursuit.

Apart from Wirtz, Bayern also have an interest in Xavi Simons. The Bavarian club tried to sign the Dutch attacker last summer, but he ended up going out on loan to RB Leipzig. Paris Saint-Germain are expected to sell Simons in the summer. Bayern will be at the front of the queue for Simons if signing Wirtz is not possible at the end of the campaign.

Apart from signing a number ten, Bayern are also expected to sign a wide player in the summer. They have shown interest in Borussia Dortmund winger Jamie Gittens, while Nico Williams is also on their list of transfer targets.
