The Bayern Munich Honorary President, Uli Hoeness, has been getting upset about Newcastle United and Liverpool.

This follows the summer 2025 transfer window which closed in the past week.

Bayern Munich have taken for granted their domination of German football, on and off the pitch.

Winning 12 of the last 13 Bundesliga titles, plus signing the best German talent that emerges at other domestic clubs.

Bayern Munich are easily the most despised club in Germany due to this arrogance and sense of entitlement.

A bit like a German equivalent of Man U and Liverpool, all rolled into one.

Used to getting their own way, this summer has been very uncomfortable for Bayern Munich and the likes of their Honorary President and former player, Uli Hoeness.

This is what Uli Hoeness had to say back in July about the Bayern Munich transfer pursuit of Nick Woltemade:

“We still have time until the end of August (to sign Nick Woltemade).

“I consider him a very, very good player, who would fit in perfectly for us.

“I would be very pleased if that happens this year.

“If not, next year.”

Bayern Munich wanted Nick Woltemade as their long-term replacement for Harry Kane but tried to bully Stuttgart, to get their striker target on the cheap.

Stuttgart had set a valuation of €65m (£56m) on Nick Woltemade but then Bayern made a number of lowball offers. Only bidding a derisory £35m which was rejected out of hand, then the same when they raised that to £48m.

Angered by the way the Bundesliga champions were behaving, Stuttgart told Bayern Munich to stop contacting their striker who had unsurprisingly become unsettled by Bayern messing him and his club around.

An eventual third offer of £52m was eventually received in mid-August as Bayern Munich started to panic. However, that once again was less than Stuttgart’s initial £56m valuation, which by then anyway had become £65m.

Stuttgart’s CEO then stating publicly that ‘the file was closed’ on Nick Woltemade this summer, sick of Bayern Munich believing they had a free run on the player, rivals having backed off and thinking the striker only wanted to sign for the Bundesliga champions.

Then Newcastle United swooping to take advantage of Bayern Munich’s antics, United offering Stuttgart their £65m valuation, plus £4.3m in potential future add-ons.

Bayern Munich had also thought they’d have a free run on Florian Wirtz this summer, only for the Bayer Leverkusen star to sign for Liverpool instead.

Now, Uli Hoeness speaking out to media in Germany about Nick Woltemade choosing to sign for Newcastle United (and Wirtz signing for Liverpool), not Bayern Munich – 7 September 2025:

“Nick Woltemade isn’t worth the €90m (£78m) fee.

“That only happened because of the money flowing from Saudi Arabia.

“We are very satisfied at FC Bayern.

“We are the real winners of this summer transfer window.

“We have a strong team and didn’t need to strengthen it much.

“Of course, we would have liked to have Florian Wirtz, but we’d never have bought him for €150m.

“We offered €55 million for Nick Woltemade, while Stuttgart wanted €75 million.

“In the end he went to Nottingham (easy to get mixed up with Newcastle….) for €90m.

“What Newcastle are doing has nothing to do with football.

“It is like Monopoly these days”

No wonder Bayern Munich are so despised in German football.

Perfectly summed up by this crying on of their Honorary President Uli Hoeness.

Bayern Munich used to taking players off other clubs, home and abroad, by using their financial power, BUT not liking it when they are unable to compete with Premier League clubs such as Liverpool and Newcastle United.

Amusing as well, that just like many others in Germany football who are upset about Premier League clubs coming to take away the best homegrown players in the Bundesliga, Uli Hoeness significantly inflates the actual prices paid by Premier League clubs this summer. Trying to make out that ridiculous amounts have been paid.

Uli Hoeness claiming Liverpool have paid £130m for Florian Wirtz, when it was actually £116m.

Whilst the Bayern Munich Honorary President claims Newcastle United paid £78m for Nick Woltemade, when the reality was £65m plus £4.3m in potential future add-ons.
