Bayern Munich are planning to sign Crystal Palace defender Marc Guehi on a free transfer in 2026, according to Florian Plettenberg of Sky Sports Germany.
The 25-year-old has been one of the most reliable players in Oliver Glasner’s team. His leadership and composure have played a major role in Palace’s impressive form this season.
The London side went 19 matches unbeaten before their run came to an end in their weekend defeat to Everton.
Reports claim Bayern sporting director Max Eberl is a strong admirer of the England international and sees him as a potential long-term addition to the squad.
Early talks have already been held with the player’s representatives to explore the possibility of a future move.
The transfer, however, will depend on the situations of Dayot Upamecano and Kim Min-Jae, who both face uncertain futures at the club.
Should either leave in the next season, Bayern will move more decisively to secure Guehi’s signature.
Bayern are not the only team monitoring Guehi’s situation. Liverpool were close to signing him during the last transfer window, but discussions reportedly collapsed late in the process.
The Merseyside club still hold an interest in the defender and may revisit the move later.
In Spain, Real Madrid and Barcelona are also closely following his progress. Both clubs are said to be interested in reinforcing their defensive options with a young and experienced centre-back.
His contract with Palace is set to expire at the end of the 2025–26 season, putting him in a strong position ahead of future negotiations.
Since joining Crystal Palace, Guehi has become a key figure for both club and country.
He played an important role in England’s run to the Euro 2024 final and continues to be part of Thomas Tuchel’s regular squad.
At club level, he captained Palace to an historic FA Cup triumph, their first major trophy.
His calm presence, solid positioning, and leadership have earned him one of the most respected defender spots in the Premier League.
Guehi is known for his controlled defending and ability to read the game well.
He passes the ball accurately from the back, stays composed under pressure, and is effective at stopping crosses and making recovery tackles.
His blend of discipline and maturity makes him an attractive target for Europe’s top clubs.
