In a dramatic match, Bayern Munich defeated Real Madrid 4-3 at the Allianz Arena on Wednesday night to make it through to the Champions League semi-finals 6-4 on aggregate.
Here are our Bayern Munich player ratings from the game:
GK: Manuel Neuer - 3/10
The Bayern captain endured a nightmare start as his early pass was intercepted by Arda Güler, who punished the mistake to make it 1-0 after less than a minute. He later got a hand to Güler’s free-kick but couldn’t keep it out. Could do nothing to prevent Mbappé from making it 3–2, but did produce a strong reflex save to deny the Frenchman later on.
RB: Josip Stanisic - 4/10
Struggled defensively in spells but offered support going forward and tested the keeper with a dangerous effort after 37 minutes. Went down after a collision with Antonio Rüdiger in a controversial incident leading up to Real Madrid’s 3-2 goal. Replaced at half-time by Alphonso Davies.
CB: Jonathan Tah - 4/10
Produced a crucial tackle on Mbappé in the second half, but struggled to deal with his pace and movement. On the ball, however, he was generally composed and reliable.
CB: Dayot Upamecano - 7/10
Generally a strong performance from the French centre-back, who produced several well-timed interventions. He also made mistakes and was caught up the pitch at times, though his pace helped him compensate. Delivered a fine assist for Harry Kane’s 2-2 equaliser, but also wasted a couple of promising chances in front of goal himself.
LB: Konrad Laimer - 6/10
As aggressive and energetic as ever, though occasionally caught out of position. Produced a crucial last-ditch tackle on Kylian Mbappé in the first half. Provided decent width going forward and supported attacks with intent.
CDM: Joshua Kimmich - 8/10
A composed and influential presence in midfield, Kimmich moved the ball intelligently and occasionally threatened from distance. Dictated set pieces with real quality, including the corner that led to Bayern’s 1-1 equaliser.
CDM: Aleksandar Pavlovic - 7/10
Scored Bayern’s 1-1 equaliser with excellent positioning from a corner. Showed composure in possession and distributed the ball well with a few exceptions.
RW: Michael Olise - 8/10
Less dominant than in the first leg at the Bernabéu, but still produced moments of real quality. Always dangerous when drifting inside, and after a few efforts that didn’t hit the target, he made it 4-3 in injury time to finish things off.
CAM: Serge Gnabry - 4/10
Kept things simple in possession, but struggled to make a decisive impact in the final third and faded before being substituted after roughly an hour.
LW: Luis Diaz - 7/10
Started brightly with energy and intensity and made an intelligent run that helped create space for Kane’s 2-2 equaliser. Couldn’t make the most of his chances until he stepped up when it mattered, scoring the goal to make it 3-3 and send Bayern through.
ST: Harry Kane - 6/10
Quiet in the opening stages, but showed his trademark efficiency by finishing clinically to make it 2-2. After half-time he produced an uncharacteristic number of misplaced passes and was less involved than usual in open play.
Alphonso Davies (for Josip Stanisic, '46) - 6/10
Jamal Musiala (for Serge Gnabry, '60) - 7/10
