Bayern Munich serious about acquiring Newcastle’s Anthony Gordon (25) on loan

Kicker reports that Bayern Munich are interested in acquiring Newcastle United attacker Anthony Gordon this summer. The fact that Germany’s preeminent footballing publication is picking up on scattered rumors surfacing elsewhere earlier this week. means that the German record champions are evidently serious about bringing the 25-year-old to the Bundesliga.

Bayern – having deliberately structured Chelsea forward Nicolas Jackson’s loan deal to avoid purchasing the 24-year-old permanently – will look to secure at least one more forward ahead of next season. It’s possible that FCB attacker Michael Olise will look to move elsewhere next year. Bayern are also reportedly displeased with Arijon Ibrahimovic’s inability to develop on loan at Heidenheim.

Will Anthony Gordon join Bayern Munich on loan?

The manner in which Jackson’s loan deal was structured will surely appeal to the Magpies. Even if Chelsea stand no chance of pocketing a sizable transfer fee for the Senegalese international, a record loan fee of €16.5m has already flowed into the coffers of the London-based club. Newcastle presumably have no interest in selling their leading goal-scorer outright.

Though Kicker and others aren’t corroborating loose chatter about struggling German forward Nick Woltemadepotentially joining Bayern on loan, such a deal would make a great deal of sense for all parties involved. Woltemade and his agent very much wanted to swing a move to German giants last summer, but find themselves stymied by Stuttgart.
