Sport Bild reports that Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich consider Liverpool’s Luis Diaz a legitimate transfer target. Bayern have been linked with Liverpool’s Cody Gakpo in the past, but the latest news on that front holds that the German giants consider the Dutchman to be too expensive. Diaz has reportedly recently seen a recent transfer to Real Madrid fall through.
The Diaz links do seem a bit odd as the 64-times-capped Colombian international does maintain the same estimated market value (€70m) as Gakpo. Bayern ostensibly don’t stand to save much money by switching Liverpool targets. Moreover, an improved salary offer for Spanish international Nico Williams could see Bayern obtain their needed attacking assistance on the wing for around €58m.
FCB board-member-for-sport Max Eberl remains under serious pressure to complete summer signings. Bayern’s chief personnel executive cut his trip to the Club World Cup short in order to return to Säbener Straße in order to rally his administrative team.
Eberl and staff continue to reel from the rejection of new Liverpool signing Florian Wirtz. Thus far, Bayern have not secured any signings for the attack this summer.
The German club’s participation in the Club World Cup forced the front office to focus on completing unconventional deals during a special FIFA summer transfer window.
It’s now time for the Eberl and his team to make some serious statements on the market.
