Bayern retain long-term interest in Man Utd’s Sesko

Bayern Munich continue to view Manchester United striker Benjamin Sesko as a long-term transfer target as they plan for life beyond Harry Kane’s peak years.

The Bundesliga champions are not expected to make an immediate move for the Slovenia international, but CF Bayern Insider reports that the 23-year-old remains firmly on the club’s shortlist as part of their long-term attacking plans.

The report claims Bayern envision Kane gradually adopting a deeper, more creative role as he gets older, allowing a traditional centre-forward to lead the line. Sesko is regarded as one of the players capable of filling that role in the future.

Bayern first explored a move for Sesko in 2024 following Vincent Kompany’s arrival, but the striker was deemed too expensive at the time before eventually joining Manchester United.

Christian Falk told CF Bayern Insider that the idea of pairing Kane with a more advanced striker remains under consideration.

“It is true: There is an idea to give Harry Kane a deeper role as he gets older at Bayern Munich,” Falk said.

“The plan for the future is to sign another striker who can be a Harry Kane successor but also play in a two-striker system.”

Bayern have already strengthened their attack this summer by signing Ismael Saibari from PSV Eindhoven, reducing the urgency to recruit another striker during the current transfer window.

However, the report suggests Sesko remains a player the German champions admire. Falk added that Bayern could revisit their interest if Sesko struggles to establish himself consistently at Manchester United, although no immediate approach is expected.

The Slovenian scored 12 goals in all competitions during his first season at Old Trafford and remains an important part of Michael Carrick’s squad.

Bayern, meanwhile, are expected to continue monitoring his development as they shape their long-term succession plan around Kane.
