FC Bayern is reportedly considering Fabian Ruiz, among others, in its search for a new midfielder. According to the latest reports, however, a transfer of the Spanish international is likely to be difficult to pull off.

Following the departures of Leon Goretzka and Raphael Guerreiro, as well as the impending move of young talent Noel Aseko to Eintracht Frankfurt, the Munich club continues to scout the transfer market in search of a new midfielder.

As reported by *kicker*, Bayern is on the lookout for an experienced central midfielder— and Fabian Ruiz of Paris Saint-Germain is reportedly on the list of candidates.

The 30-year-old is one of the Spanish national team’s key players at the World Cup and has built on the strong impression he made last season at PSG. Since his contract in Paris currently runs only through 2027, a move this summer at least did not seem out of the question.

Romano: Contract extension already agreed upon

Now, however, transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has put a significant damper on speculation about a possible move to Bayern.

“The agreement between Ruiz and Paris Saint-Germain on a new contract has already been finalized for two months. Fabián has already agreed to sign a new three-year contract with an option to extend for another year,” Romano explained.

If the contract extension is officially announced as expected, a move by the Spaniard this summer would effectively be off the table.

Romano’s statements underscore the importance Ruiz holds for the French club. After the midfielder established himself as a key player under Luis Enrique, PSG wants to extend his contract early and send a clear message.

For FC Bayern, this is likely to make the search for a new midfielder more complicated. Although Munich continues to monitor the market closely, the chances of signing Ruiz currently appear to be extremely slim. As a result, the record champions are likely to look more actively for alternatives in their search for reinforcements in central midfield.
