Bayern stays in the hunt: PSG joins the race for Belgian star | OneFootball

Although no transfers are currently on the immediate horizon for FC Bayern, the record champions are monitoring the market and on the lookout for lucrative opportunities. One player who represented Belgium at the World Cup remains on the record champions’ radar. 

In fact, Bayern was linked to Charles de Ketelaere—who currently plays for Atalanta in Bergamo—weeks ago. Although various media outlets reported conflicting information, his name remained a persistent topic of discussion until the World Cup caused the buzz around the attacking player to die down a bit.

Now, transfer journalist Sacha Tavolieri, who has good contacts in Belgium, reports that Paris Saint-Germain has just entered the race for the player.

PSG on the Trail of Bayern Target

This could be a reaction to the fact that the transfer of Maghnes Akliouche from AS Monaco is proving to be very difficult. Three offers from the French league leader have already been rejected, and PSG is said to have recently made it clear in talks that they might turn their attention to other targets.

According to Italy’s Corriere della Sera, however, FC Bayern remains a club that is monitoring developments surrounding the Belgian player. That doesn’t mean the record champions are entering the bidding war, but they are keeping themselves informed in case something happens.

Atalanta values the Belgian at around 50 million euros, a sum that Bayern Munich could certainly afford depending on future sales. PSG, however, would have a much easier time meeting Atalanta’s demands if they decided to turn their expression of interest into a genuine transfer bid.

So for now, everything seems to be up in the air. In the short term—that is, without any further departures—the door to Bayern Munich is likely to remain closed for the time being.
