New Chelsea manager Xabi Alonso has been asked his opinion on the Chelsea project in a brief interview on Spanish TV.

It looks like the TV cameras have tracked down the former Real Madrid manager, who was spotted actually in the City of Madrid yesterday.

Alonso does not officially start his role as Chelsea manager until the start of July, but you’d be naïve to think that he isn’t already getting to work with plans for when he does start preseason as well as transfer plans for the summer.

Chelsea’s project gets a lot of criticism, and it is apparently going to be tweaked a bit this summer with different types of signings. So it’s interesting that Alonso is asked about the Chelsea project.

Alonso is asked by El Chiringuito TV how the Chelsea move happened? Tell us a bit about it? Was it the offer? The fact they won’t play in Europe?”

“No, I was always open to it, and, well, it’s a beautiful project.”

“Chelsea is a nice project, it’s a very good option.”
