Bednarek injures knee in Supertaça, posts ironic message about Coimbra pitch | OneFootball

FC Porto centre-back Bednarek went off injured at half-time of the Supertaça against Torreense, then aimed an ironic message at the Coimbra pitch after a win sealed by a Froholdt goal.

The injury happened in the seventh minute. He was replaced at the interval by Alan Varela due to a lateral ligament strain in his right knee, which could sideline him for a few weeks. The club said in a statement that it was down to the poor condition of the Estádio Cidade de Coimbra pitch.

Bednarek watched the remainder from the bench with ice on his knee. He will undergo further tests today to determine the full extent.

After the final whistle he posted a two-word message, “Bom campo”, on social media.

Before kick-off he had already criticised the surface, arguing that a country seeking to improve the league and attract more people to stadiums deserved better, and that players trying to play their best also need proper conditions.
