The focus at FC Bayern has long been on the all-important second leg against Paris Saint-Germain – but now, of all times, there are concerns about Alphonso Davies
As reported by BILD, the Canadian left-back only completed an individual program on Thursday and was absent from team training – a sight that is causing concern at Säbener Straße
While the majority of the team continued their preparations for the Bundesliga match against Heidenheim behind closed doors, Davies was visibly working on the sideline. For around 40 minutes, the 25-year-old reeled off a reduced program: running units of varying intensity, coordination exercises and relaxed ball activities under the guidance of rehab coach Simon Martinello
A normal training program looks different – especially just a few days before one of the most important games of the season
Davies had already caused a stir in the first leg against PSG. Despite a solid performance, he was substituted at half-time. Officially, it remained unclear whether this was a tactical measure or a reaction to physical problems
Sporting director Max Eberl kept a low profile after the game, praising the Canadian’s performance but avoiding a clear explanation for his substitution. It is precisely this uncertainty that is now increasing concerns
A possible loss of Davies would hit FC Bayern hard. His speed is a decisive factor, especially against PSG’s extremely fast and dribbling wingers. His ability to close down spaces and defend one-on-one duels makes him almost indispensable in such games
The first leg in particular showed just how important pace is at the back – an area in which Davies is one of the best

Whether Davies will return to team training in time and be available for the second leg remains to be seen. The coming days are likely to be decisive. One thing is clear: Vincent Kompany will have to weigh up carefully whether it makes sense to field him – or whether he will be forced to fall back on alternatives
In any case, a fit Davies would be a huge factor for FC Bayern in the second leg against PSG, which is precisely why Munich are currently keeping a particularly close eye on every session – and every step the Canadian takes.
