FC Bayern officially says goodbye on Saturday ahead of the Bundesliga clash with FC St. Pauli: Kingsley Coman returns to the Allianz Arena for a special moment and is bid farewell by the club and fans.

The Frenchman, who moved to Saudi Arabia to join Al-Nassr FC in the summer, will visit his old sporting home once again.

Coman appeared at Säbener Straße on Friday – and it quickly became clear how much his ten years in Munich have shaped him. His lederhosen from Oktoberfest visits with FC Bayern are still hanging in his wardrobe at home, he revealed. The memory of them is not just a nostalgic memento: „One day I want to wear them again and go to the Oktoberfest with the boys.“

While he lives in warm Saudi Arabia, November in Munich almost felt like the old days. Coman laughed: „But I know that. I was here for ten years.“

Coman also feels a bit like a Bavarian

The 29-year-old showed that he still feels closely connected to the city with a charming anecdote: „In Paris, you cross the red light when no car is coming. In Munich, everyone waits until it turns green. Now I always wait until it turns green – even in Paris,“ he said – and laughed heartily.

Even more important for Coman, however, is the culture that he has internalized at the record champions: „This philosophy, the Mia san Mia, this family feeling – that’s special. That’s why I came back.“

On Friday, he visited his former teammates, met friends and companions – a real soccer family, as Coman emphasizes. The emotional highlight follows on Saturday: his official farewell in front of tens of thousands of fans, who – as he promises – „will always remain in my heart“.

An era comes to an end

Kingsley Coman’s record at FC Bayern is extraordinary. His statistics include nine league titles, three DFB Cup wins, six Super Cups, one UEFA Super Cup and the Club World Cup title. However, the greatest moment will forever remain the 2020 Champions League final: in Lisbon, he headed the only goal of the evening to lead Bayern to victory against Paris Saint-Germain.

„I had a great time in Munich,“ he said in retrospect in an interview with the club media: „I had a lot of friends here who became like family to me.“
