Corinthians forward Belén Aquino has been named in Uruguay’s 23-player squad for the final Nations League fixtures, which double as Conmebol qualifying for the 2027 Women’s World Cup.
According to Meu Timao, La Celeste visit Colombia on Friday 5 June at the Estádio Pascual Guerrero in Cali at 20:00 Brasília time, then host Venezuela on Tuesday 9 June at the Estádio Centenário, also at 20:00.
Uruguay are eighth in the standings with five points from six matches, three defeats, two draws and one win. Only the top two qualify automatically, while third and fourth head to an intercontinental play-off against teams from Asia, Oceania and Concacaf, so qualification is considered unlikely.
To stand a chance, they would need to win both games and hope Peru, Paraguay, Ecuador and Chile drop points. Brazil are already qualified as hosts and are not competing in the Nations League.
Aquino, 24, joined Corinthians at the start of the season after Internacional and has made 16 appearances, eight starts, delivering three assists and two goals. In that run the team recorded nine wins, three draws and four defeats.
Her call-up means she will miss the Brabas’ friendlies against the United States Under-23s on those dates. Three team-mates are also on Brazil duty for Emily Lima’s side, goalkeeper Lelê, centre-back Thais Ferreira and midfielder Duda Sampaio.
Before the international window, the quartet link up with the squad to face Palmeiras on Saturday at 11:00 at Nubank Parque, a single-leg tie in the third round of the Copa do Brasil Feminina.
