Belgium thrashed Liechtenstein 7-0 on Tuesday evening to book their place in the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

After the disappointing 1-1 draw with Kazakhstan on Saturday, Belgium responded with a clinical display to secure Group J’s automatic ticket for the finals.

Belgium started the game aggressively and scored the opener in the third minute as Hans Vanaken rose to meet a cross and planted a header into the top corner.

Timothy Castagne missed a chance to double Belgium’s lead, sending a weak header straight at goalkeeper Benjamin Buchel.

Unlike the Fulham defender, Jeremy Doku made no mistake to punish the visitors’ poor defending, slotting the ball into the net with a low drive.

The in-form Manchester City winger added to the Red Devils’ advantage before the break, picking out the bottom corner after a brilliant individual run.

Rudi Garcia’s side started the second half at their frenetic best, scoring four goals in seven minutes.

Brandon Mechele made it 4-0 with an excellent finish, though the VAR intervened before his goal stood.

Alexis Saelemaekers then got in on the act with a tap-in before Charles De Ketelaere scored in close succession.

The Atalanta man scored his first with a clinical strike and headed home from close range for his second, after Thomas Meunier delivered a brilliant cross into the area.

The match ended with Liechtenstein recording just one shot on target, underlining Belgium’s dominance in the fixture.
