The club said in a statement that 16-year-old midfielder Believe Munongo has signed his first professional contract, a three-season deal keeping him at Metz until 2029.
He made his Ligue 1 debut on 25 January against Olympique Lyonnais, a match that finished 5-2, becoming the youngest player in the club’s history to play in the top flight.
In March, around the trip to Rennes, it was made clear that Nathan Mbala and Munongo were set to turn professional. Mbala signed two days later, while Munongo’s agreement took longer to conclude.
The midfielder has progressed through Metz’s academy, which he joined at the age of 10.
This season he featured in eleven Ligue 1 matches, starting five, then represented France at the Under-17 Euros, reaching the semi-finals before losing to Belgium 2-1.
