Wales manager Craig Bellamy will assess Dan James before this evening's meeting with Northern Ireland, with the Leeds United winger's fitness in question.
James scored in last week's World Cup play-off against Bosnia and Herzegovina, but Wales went out on penalties after a 1-1 draw. According to Leeds Live, Bellamy said James had played only one game in four months before the camp and had also been ill.
Bellamy added that James delivered more than expected against Bosnia, yet cramp meant he had to come off, so the staff are monitoring him closely ahead of tonight.
At Leeds, James returned from injury in early February after two months out and has largely been used from the bench, with a new system less suited to his strengths. He has made five Premier League appearances in 2026, all as a substitute.
Ethan Ampadu, Joe Rodon and Karl Darlow, James' Leeds team-mates, also saw their World Cup bids end and remain on international duty. Daniel Farke will hope to involve James in Sunday's FA Cup quarter-final at West Ham, which could depend on his involvement tonight and how he is when he returns to training on Thursday.
