Bellingham backs Alonso as pressure mounts on Real Madrid boss | OneFootball

Jude Bellingham has said the Real Madrid squad are ‘100% behind’ Xabi Alonso despite pressure on the head coach.

The Spanish side lost 2-1 at home to Manchester City in the Champions League on Wednesday night to continue the club’s poor run of form.

Real have won just two of their last eight in all competitions, while defeat to the Citizens made it back-to-back losses at the Bernabeu.

Alonso was appointed as manager in the summer, replacing Carlo Ancelotti in the Spanish capital. However, the club’s former midfielder is now under real pressure after a downturn in results.

Despite their disappointing run, Bellingham has backed Alonso to turn the club’s season around. He said the squad have full faith in the 44-year-old despite outside noise.

Speaking to TNT Sports, the England international said: “I personally have a great relationship with him, a lot of the lads do as well.

“After the first run of games we had some really great conversations internally and we felt we were on the back side of that form.

“In the past couple of games we let ourselves down again. No-one’s downing tools, no-one’s complaining and moaning thinking the season is over.”
