Ben Chilwell has revealed Jamie Vardy’s pre-match habits, saying the striker would drink four cans of Red Bull within an hour before matches. In an interview with L'Équipe on Sunday, he set out the routine.

Chilwell, now at Strasbourg, played alongside Vardy at Leicester from 2015 to 2020. He said that on the eve of matches Vardy would have wine at the team hotel and beers, and that he slept very little.

Vardy was a Leicester mainstay for 13 years from 2012 to 2025, experiencing everything with the club. That included the extraordinary 2015-2016 Premier League title, achieved a year after promotion from the second tier.

Despite that routine, Vardy amassed 200 goals and 71 assists in 500 appearances for Leicester City.

Chilwell’s account offers a rare glimpse into the unusual preparation behind a prolific Leicester career.
