Kiari Flores, one of the authors of Benfica’s new anthem unveiled in April on Benfica FM, has been detained by the PSP under operation KickOff, according to Glorioso 1904. The operation is examining incidents on 19 February before the Sporting v Benfica futsal derby near Pavilhão João Rocha.

The singer, who wrote the song with his father, musician Paulo Flores, is among 10 No Name Boys members detained this week. Those suspects had already been identified and arrested after the February clashes, then released by a court the following day.

Lisbon PSP commissioner Tiago Costa said the campaign is intended to mark the new sporting season with a zero-tolerance message, adding that violence has no place at sporting venues.

He also said investigators had gathered fresh indications of far more serious conduct by 10 of the initially detained fans, including an attempted homicide, kicks to the head of a defenceless victim on the ground, assaults with iron bars and flares ignited close to the victim’s body.

The 10 now in custody had already been flagged by authorities for alleged involvement in other clashes between ultras groups, yet none has a final conviction.

Investigators say dozens of Benfica fans allegedly threw flares and other pyrotechnics towards the area known as "Casinha", headquarters of Juventude Leonina. At the end of the police operation, 125 people were detained, 64 Benfica supporters and 61 from Sporting.
