Rodrigo Rêgo has joined Brighton from Benfica in a permanent transfer worth 3.5 million euros. The 21-year-old winger moves to the Premier League.
The club said in a statement that the move was completed on Wednesday. He has signed a five-year contract with the Premier League club.
Rêgo joined from Famalicão in 2022/23 and began at Benfica Campus, playing for the junior and Under-23 teams across his first two seasons.
He was then called up to the senior side and handed his debut by José Mourinho last season. Rêgo started and completed 90 minutes in a 2-0 win over Atlético in the Taça de Portugal fourth round.
In 2025/26 he made four further first-team appearances, including a Champions League game against Ajax, and featured 21 times for the B team.
Benfica will retain a percentage of the player's rights, a common arrangement for younger footballers with potential for future value. The club also wished Rêgo sporting success and personal happiness in England.
