Benfica cool interest in Ibrahima Ba and turn to other targets | OneFootball

According to Glorioso 1904, Benfica remain in the market for a centre-back, but Ibrahima Ba is not currently at the top of their list.

The 21-year-old Senegal defender at Famalicão has been linked with Benfica and Sporting in recent weeks. He is admired and well scouted by Rui Costa's hierarchy, yet his profile does not fully fit.

The club are targeting a more experienced, preferably left-footed centre-back to balance the unit after Nicolás Otamendi left for River Plate.

Even so, Ba remains under observation. His name could come into sharper focus if António Silva or Tomás Araújo depart during this window.

Any deal would be complex, as Ba recently renewed with Famalicão until 2030, strengthening their hand.

The Minho club are pointing to a fee around 20 million euros. For now Benfica are only monitoring, with no concrete move, while assessing other defensive alternatives before the new season.
