Benfica have tabled a €20m bid for Tottenham left-back Souza, formerly of Santos, as he seeks more minutes in Europe.
O Diário do Peixe first reported the proposal, which would be worth around R$116.62m.
Talks are not straightforward, and the player's representatives want at least a loan to secure game time.
Signed in January, Souza became the youngest Brazilian to debut for Tottenham on 7 February 2026, a second-half substitute in the 2-0 defeat to Manchester United. He was 19 years, seven months and 19 days, and made only four first-team appearances in 2025/26.
Spurs have received enquiries from several clubs, but only Benfica have submitted an official offer so far. The push for regular minutes is linked to the 2030 World Cup cycle.
Santos hold 10% of Souza’s next sale, so acceptance of Benfica’s terms would bring the club about R$11.6m.
The 1.83m Mauá-born defender was the only Brazilian left-back nominated for the Golden Boy award, run by Italian site Tutto Sport for Europe’s best under-21.
