Benfica have already brought in almost €100 million this transfer window without selling any undisputed starter, despite missing the Champions League and planning a summer reshuffle. According to Glorioso 1904, the club have boosted their coffers through fringe departures, solidarity payments and José Mourinho’s move to Real Madrid.
Much of the income has come from players outside the plans. Rodrigo Rêgo and Gonçalo Oliveira fetched €3.5 million each, Gustavo Marques joined Red Bull Bragantino permanently for another €3.5 million, Rafael Rodrigues moved to Al Ain for €2.5 million, and Sidny Lopes Cabral went to Trabzonspor for €7 million plus €3 million in add-ons.
Benfica also benefited from graduates elsewhere. João Neves triggered a €2 million bonus after winning the Champions League with PSG under clauses in his sale, while Gonçalo Ramos’s switch from PSG to Milan delivered €3 million via FIFA’s solidarity mechanism.
Another major inflow followed Mourinho’s exit. He left Benfica to take charge of Real Madrid and, despite a delay linked to the Spanish club’s electoral process, the €15 million release clause was paid.
Previously defined deals have now been settled. Besiktas activated the mandatory €30 million purchase of Orkun Kokçu, and Burnley paid €24 million for Florentino Luís, a fee that could reach €26 million. The combined receipts give the club valuable financial breathing space.
