Benfica have sold 18-year-old midfielder Gil Neves to Cologne for around one million euros.

The transfer was announced on Friday, ending his two-year stay. Benfica have also secured a significant percentage of any future sale.

Neves joined in 2024/25 and won the national under-17 title in his first season.

He then lifted the European under-17 crown with Portugal in 2025. Benfica posted a farewell message on their website, wishing him success as he moves on.

"I am very happy. This is a very special move for me and I cannot wait to wear the Cologne shirt," he told the club's media.
