Benfica sell Gustavo Marques to Red Bull Bragantino, fee reported at around €3.5m | OneFootball

Benfica have sold centre-back Gustavo Marques to Red Bull Bragantino on a permanent deal. The agreement runs to 2030, with reports in Brazil putting Benfica’s return at around €3.5m.

Bragantino exercised their option to keep the 24-year-old after his spell with the club, satisfied by his displays.

Marques joined Benfica in 2022/23 for the B team, initially on loan from América Mineiro after a stint at Torreense.

In 2023/24 he made 32 appearances for Benfica B, scoring once and supplying one assist. That form earned a first-team debut under Roger Schmidt, coming on in the 88th minute of a 3-0 win over Famalicão on matchday 15.

Short of senior openings at Benfica, he returned to Brazil and progressed with Bragantino. He was also involved in a row over a sexist comment, yet his on-pitch performances stayed consistent.

In 2025 he scored one goal in 16 matches, then in 2026 he registered three goals and one assist across 29 games. Those returns underpinned the club’s decision.
