Benfica have told Real Madrid it will take 15 million to release José Mourinho, a figure they are unwilling to lower, according to Glorioso 1904.

Florentino Pérez remains intent on bringing Mourinho back to the Santiago Bernabéu and is expected to make a formal move only after the presidential election on 7 June.

He believes the situation is under control and that a deal will be concluded without difficulty, aided by talks conducted via Jorge Mendes.

Inside Benfica, the switch is viewed as almost inevitable, with only a possible victory for Enrique Riquelme in the election seen as capable of changing the outcome.

The Portuguese coach’s stance has caused unease among the board. Rui Costa has put forward a renewal offer, yet Mourinho has not formally communicated his decision, despite several visits to Seixal since the season ended.

His silence has deepened frustration, particularly as the hierarchy expected clarity before the expiry of the initial reduced-clause deadline.
