Benfica still unsure which Estádio da Luz match will be behind closed doors | OneFootball

Benfica must serve a one-match stadium closure at Estádio da Luz but still do not know which fixture it will cover.

Record writes that the Court of Appeal has upheld the APCVD ruling, making the sanction final while leaving the first affected game undefined.

The club will request formal clarification from the court and the APCVD on how and when to execute the punishment.

Early indications pointed to the league opener at home to Académico de Viseu, the first Liga Portugal Betclic match at the Luz.

There is now a competing option, the first official home tie of the season against St. Gallen, the second leg of the Europa League second qualifying round.

The doubt arises because the case also covered incidents in European competitions, which could mean the first official home match regardless of competition. The Lisbon District Court did not set this out explicitly in its decision.

Benfica aim to settle the matter before the campaign begins. They were also fined 150,000 euros.
