Benfica ‘to add’ Cesare Casadei to midfield shortlist | OneFootball

Benfica have placed Cesare Casadei on their list of potential midfield signings for the new season, according to Tuttosport.

The 23-year-old Italian youth international enjoyed a positive campaign in Turin, featuring in 36 competitive matches and scoring seven goals. He joined Torino from Chelsea in January 2025 for about €13 million.

Any deal looks complicated. Head coach Ignazio Abate views Casadei as important for the coming season and does not intend to part with him. The midfielder is contracted until June 2029.

While tracking Casadei, Benfica still see João Palhinha as their priority to strengthen midfield. Marco Silva continues to regard the Portugal international as the ideal profile to add experience, balance and intensity.

Bayern Munich’s financial demands remain a factor, and Juventus and, more recently, Aston Villa have entered the race for Palhinha. The English club, current Europa League holders, could further complicate Benfica’s hopes.
