Benfica are exploring a loan for Real Madrid winger Franco Mastantuono after a decision by the structure led by José Mourinho to permit a temporary exit.

According to Glorioso 1904, Madrid intend to loan the 18-year-old to secure minutes while retaining control of his future, and Benfica are among the leading candidates. Madrid still rate the Argentine as one of their top prospects and view a loan as the best route to speed his development.

Benfica are evaluating the move and believe the teenager’s quality could inject creativity and unpredictability into their attack. The club also see it as a market opportunity that is hard to ignore.

Mastantuono, previously targeted by Benfica in 2025, joined Madrid from River Plate in a €45 million transfer. In his first season in Europe he featured in 35 matches, scoring three goals.
