Benfica’s push for a new centre-back has stalled on Jonathan Jesus, with Cruzeiro unwilling to negotiate below €20m, prompting the club to widen their search.

Record reports that Jonathan Jesus’s representative travelled to Lisbon for talks with Rui Costa and Mário Branco, but an agreement remains distant.

Among the options assessed is Axel Disasi, a 28-year-old France international. He is contracted to Chelsea until 2029 and spent last season on loan at West Ham.
